The ritual of the red envelope is deeply rooted in ancient Chinese culture and folklore. For thousands of years, people in the Far East have given red envelopes containing money to honor wisdom and sacred knowledge on auspicious occasions. Exchanging red envelopes between client and practitioner each time information is shared is the tradition of The Black Hat School of Feng Shui, and honors the lineage of oral transmission.

Giving red envelopes is a powerful symbol of exchange that has many layers of meaning for everyone involved in the Feng Shui consultation.

Putting money in the envelopes demonstrates the recipient’s sincere respect for the sacred knowledge that is shared, and is a physical action which helps set the intention that the consultation will be of benefit. The coin or bill “adds weight” to the information received, and insures that the person who gets the advice has asked for the information.

Like an ancient shield, it protects the transmitter of secret knowledge from absorbing the problem solved, and is a symbol of separate karmas between Practitioner and client. It is also a reminder of the Consultant’s responsibility to provide feng shui information handed down through generations thoughtfully and compassionately.

Taking the time and effort to locate red envelopes and prepare them strengthens and enhances the effectiveness of transcendental cures.

Red is associated with life force and vibrates at a high frequency, symbolizing auspicious good luck, blessings, and power.

With each consultation, an offering of new red envelopes is made to me along with the session fee in multiples of nine, a sacred number representing completion. For a standard consultation, nine is the chosen number because the I Ching considers it to be the strongest and most powerful of all “yang” numbers. Place any amount of money in each envelope… It is your discretion to choose any denomination of coin or bills that represents a token of value to you. All the money inside the envelopes will be donated to charity after I follow a ritual of blessings and sleep with them under my pillow, visualizing you will receive the full benefit of the information shared. The envelopes used with each session can be traditional Chinese or Western red envelopes, and can even be handmade. Once the red envelopes are given, the time honored tradition of the cycle of information is complete, and the ancient energies of Feng Shui will help you to create a good family life, more wealth and health, helpful people when you need them, blessings on your children, more knowledge and fame, success in your work, and happy partnerships and marriage.
